Mike Cummings, along with his wife Donna, have dedicated their lives to both professional careers and various ministries. Donna, equipped with a Master’s Degree in reading skills, has served as a dedicated public school teacher. Meanwhile, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Biblical Studies and a minor in music, Mike pursued a fulfilling career as a firefighter. Throughout their professional journey, they have been privileged to raise three sons, who have blessed them with three wonderful daughters-in-law and eleven grandchildren.

Their shared passion for mission trips, youth ministry, and evangelistic campaigns has led them to collaborate with smaller churches across the Texas panhandle. In these capacities, they’ve contributed through music ministry and teaching, often in volunteer, part-time, or interim roles. Through these diverse experiences, they believe that God has been guiding and preparing them for each unique opportunity to serve. Donna currently participates by teaching and lending her voice to the Praise Team.

Upon his retirement, Mike was invited to join the leadership team at Second Baptist Church. He has taken on the full-time role as Minister of Music, leads Adult Discipleship, and carries Senior Adult responsibilities. Since joining Second Baptist Church in April 2014, they have dedicated almost a decade to serving this community. Their involvement has spanned various facets of church life. In addition to his pursuits, Mike enjoys playing Pickleball and cherishing quality moments with his 11 grandchildren, each at varying stages of growth.

As they embark on a new chapter of service under the guidance of our new Pastor, Donna, and Mike eagerly anticipate the joy and growth ahead. They are humbly committed to serving in whatever capacity God envisions for Second Baptist Church for the next 100 years.
