True greatness in the kingdom of God is not measured by position, recognition, or applause. It is revealed through a life faithfully given in humble service to Christ and to others.
In Mark 10, Jesus teaches His disciples that leadership in His kingdom looks different from leadership in the world. The world often seeks authority and status. Christ calls His followers to serve. He did not come to be served, but to serve and to give His life as a ransom for many.
This passage reveals the call of a servant, the cost of a servant, and the cross of a servant. A servant’s heart is willing to place others first, remain faithful when the work is unseen, and follow the example of Jesus with humility and love.
“For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.”

This Sunday is also a meaningful moment in the life of our church family. We will take time to recognize and express our gratitude to Mike Cummings as he completes 12 years of faithful ministry as our Worship Leader. We are deeply thankful for the time, talent, and heart he has given while leading our church in worship.
This message invites us to consider the way we serve. Are we seeking recognition, or are we following the example of Christ? Are we willing to serve faithfully even when no one else sees the sacrifice? Are we stewarding our lives with a humble heart?
